Feeds and views

Every list in the hub can be read as rows, as cards or as pictures, and it scrolls inside its own panel.

What this is

A feed is any list of things in the hub. Posts, events, groups, people, gigs, offerings, documents, notifications, conversations, transactions and decisions are all feeds.

They all behave the same way, which is what makes the hub learnable.

What you see

A list sits inside a panel. The panel has a height you set, and the list fills it. When the list is longer than the panel, it scrolls inside the panel. The page behind it does not move.

How many rows you see before it scrolls comes from the panel's size. A taller panel shows more. A narrow one in a side column shows fewer, and shows each row more tightly.

When you reach the bottom of what is loaded, the next batch arrives and is added below. Nothing already on screen shifts.

At the end of a fully read list, a line says so. It reads something like that is every open job, or that is everything saved in this category.

When a list is empty, a line in its place says what would have been there. No open work right now. No posts yet. Nothing waiting on you.

Above many lists sits a small control with up to three settings.

List draws each item as a row.

Cards draws each item as a bordered tile in a grid.

Gallery draws each item as a square picture.

Local feeds carry tabs as well. A place feed reads Posts, Events, Groups, People, Gigs and Mart. The Posts tab adds a search box and five kinds: All, Social, Offers, Requests and Gratitude.

How to

Switch how a list is drawn

1. Find the small control above the list.
2. Press List for rows, Cards for tiles, or Gallery for pictures.
3. The list redraws. Your choice is remembered for next time.

Load more of a list

1. Put your pointer inside the panel.
2. Scroll down inside it.
3. When you reach the bottom of what is loaded, more items arrive below.
4. If a batch fails, a line says so and invites you to scroll again to retry.

Filter a feed by place

1. Press the pill in the bar at the top.
2. Choose a place.
3. Every feed that follows your choice redraws, narrowed to that place.
4. Press All Locales to widen it again.

Show more rows before a list scrolls

1. Find the panel holding the list.
2. Drag its bottom edge down. An outline shows the height you would get.
3. Let go. The list now shows more rows before it starts to scroll.

Making the panel wider does the same in the wide middle column, because a wider panel fits more on a row.

What changes for you

Gallery is offered only where the things in the list have a picture to lead with. Posts, events, groups, people and listings have one. Jobs, projects, documents, notifications, conversations, transactions and decisions do not, so those lists only offer List and Cards.

Asking for Gallery where it is not available gives you Cards instead.

A list inside a narrow side column is drawn tighter than the same list in the wide middle column.

A failed batch is not the end of a list. The list keeps its place and lets you try again.

Reading to the end of a post feed across your places says you are caught up, and offers to show you what is new everywhere.
