Requests to join
Where your own pending applications sit, and where an admin answers the applications a group has received.
What this is
A group that reviews applications does not let you in until an admin says yes.
While you wait, your application sits in one list. For an admin, every application to their group sits in another.
What you see
In Groups under Manage, the narrow right column holds a panel headed Pending requests. It shows the count and one row per group, each with how long ago you asked.
When you have asked for nothing, it reads that nothing is waiting, and explains that groups you ask to join wait here until an admin answers.
On the group's own page, the join button reads Request Pending and is greyed out.
For an admin, the group's settings carry a tab headed Requests, holding the applications the group has received.

How to
See the groups you are waiting on
- Open Groups under Manage.
- Look at the Pending requests panel in the right column.
- Read the group names and how long each has been waiting.
Answer an application to your group
- Open the group.
- Press Group Settings at the top right. It appears only for admins.
- Press the Requests tab.
- Read the application and approve or decline it.
Set up what applicants are asked
- Open the group.
- Press Group Settings at the top right.
- Press the Join Settings tab.
- Choose a Join Type. The choices are Open, Apply and approve, Invite Only, and Invite plus apply and approve.
- Write Application Instructions. Applicants read this before answering.
- Add your questions in the question editor.
- Switch on Require password challenge if you also want a password.
- Press Save Join Settings.
What changes for you
If you are not an admin you never see the Requests tab.
An admin can also switch Discovery between Public and Hidden on the same tab. Hidden keeps the group out of discovery lists.
The same tab carries the group's invite link. Generating a new one retires the old one when you save.
Require admin approval is switched on and locked whenever the Join Type already reviews applications.
