Notifications
The bell in the top bar, the page behind it, and the two switches that decide what reaches your inbox.
What this is
A notification tells you somebody did something that involves you. A reaction, a comment, a follow.
They gather on one page, reached from the bell in the bar at the top.
What you see
The bell carries a dot when something is unread.
The page is headed Notifications. Five tabs run across it: All, Unread, Following, Reactions and Comments. All is where you land.
Each card shows the person's picture, their name, what they did, a short piece of what they wrote when there is one, and how long ago. The most recent say so in words, then they count in minutes, then in hours, then in days, and then show a date.
An unread card carries a dot and a coloured edge.
Each card carries a control that toggles between Mark read and Mark unread.
A button at the bottom reads Mark all as read. It appears only when the tab you are on has something in it.
When a tab is empty, the page says there are no notifications in this view.

How to
Read your notifications
- Press the bell in the bar at the top.
- Press a tab to narrow the list. Following holds follows. Reactions holds reactions. Comments holds comments.
- Press a card to open what it is about. It is marked read as you go.
Mark them all read
- Press the bell in the bar at the top.
- Press the tab you want to clear.
- Press Mark all as read at the bottom.
This clears only what the tab you are on is showing, not everything.
Turn off email notifications
- Open Settings under Account.
- Press the Notifications tab.
- Switch Email Notifications off.
What changes for you
You must be signed in to have notifications.
Settings offers exactly two switches. Email Notifications, and Publish to Murmurations, which lists your profile in a public directory of regenerative projects. There is no per-kind switch.
Unread messages are counted separately, on the envelope beside the bell.
The Recent activity panel on the Dashboard shows the same notifications, so you can answer them without leaving home.
