Making things

Everything new in Rivr is made on one page, and the place or group you started from is carried in for you.

What this is

There is one page where new things are made. The plus button in the bar at the top opens it, and so does Builder under Tools.

It has five tabs, one per kind of thing.

What you see

The heading reads Create. Five tabs: Post, Event, Project, Group and Offering.

A post is something you say. It can be social, an offer, a request or gratitude.

An event is a gathering with a time and a place. People say whether they are going, and some events sell tickets.

A project is a piece of work with jobs beneath it and a share of its group's money.

A group is a set of people. It can be basic, an organization, a ring or a family.

An offering is something you provide. Choosing the Offering tab asks what kind: a skill, tools and materials, a product, a service, a trip, a ticket, a voucher, data, a grant round, a gift or a bounty.

A sixth tab, Job, appears only when you arrive from a project.

What you can do here

• Open the page from anywhere. See Start from the plus button.
• Open it with a place already chosen. See Start from a place.
• Pick the right tab. See Choose what to make.

How to

Start from the plus button

1. Press the plus button in the bar at the top.
2. The Create page opens on the Post tab.
3. Press a different tab if you want something else.
4. Fill the form in and save. You land on the thing you made.

Start from a place

1. Open one of your places under My Places.
2. Press the pill asking whether you have something to share today.
3. The Create page opens with that place already chosen.
4. Write your post and publish it. It goes to that place without you picking it again.

The same happens from a group. Starting from a group carries the group with you, and the event form arrives with post as a group already ticked.

Choose what to make

1. Press the plus button in the bar at the top.
2. Press Post to say something.
3. Press Event for a gathering with a time.
4. Press Project for work with jobs beneath it.
5. Press Group for a set of people.
6. Press Offering for something you provide.

What changes for you

You must be signed in to make anything.

Whatever you make, you land on it. A post opens the post. An event opens the event. A project opens the project. A group opens the group. An offering opens it in the market.

The Post tab carries a Post as control, but only when you steward at least one group. Without one there is nothing to choose between.

Selling a paid offering or a paid listing needs a Seller membership or higher. A paid ticketed event needs a Host membership or higher. Turning a basic group into an organization needs an Organization membership or higher. In each case a window explains what is needed.

A private event never appears on a global, place or group feed. Only you and the people you invited can see it.
