Subgroups and projects
A subgroup is a group inside a group. A project is a piece of work with jobs, a budget and a page of its own.
What this is
A subgroup is a group that lives inside another group. It has its own page, its own members and its own tabs.
A project is a piece of work. It has jobs beneath it, a page of its own, and a share of its group's money.
They are different things. A subgroup is people. A project is work.
What you see
On a group's page, the Groups tab lists its subgroups.
The Jobs tab holds the board headed Projects and Jobs, described as a place to find projects and jobs to contribute to and earn points.
Above the board sit a search box, a filter for status offering All Status, Open, Active, Planning, In Progress and Completed, and a filter by category. Beside them sit buttons reading New Job and New Project.
Each project on the board carries a button reading View Project Details. Admins also get an Add Job button on each project.
A project's own page carries seven tabs: About, Jobs, Calendar, Team, Treasury, Stock and, for the people who may read them, Docs. Each of Jobs, Team and Docs carries a count.
The About tab is a page of panels you can arrange, like the Dashboard. Add widget and Reset layout sit in its header. Its narrow left column holds About, which is the lead, the status, and where and when, and Team, which is who is working on it. Its wide middle column holds Work tree, which draws the project's jobs with their assignees and status, then Jobs, then Tasks, which is the checklist under those jobs, then Expenses, which is the project balance and what has been spent. Its narrow right column holds Docs and Recent activity.
On a group's Treasury tab, the panel headed Subgroup and project balances lists each pocket with what is available in it and what has been spent.

What changes for you
Posting a job on a group's Jobs tab is for admins. The board's own New Job and New Project buttons follow the same rule.
A project's money comes from the group that holds it. Its balance shows on the group's Treasury tab, which only admins can open.
A subgroup with no money of its own still shows in the treasury list, with nothing in it, rather than disappearing.
Where this connects
- The organization tree explains how subgroups nest.
- Gigs is where the jobs under a project become claimable work.
- The group treasury explains where a project's money sits.
- Hubs and panels explains how to arrange the About tab's panels.
